My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

I have struggled for many periods and continue to struggle with depression and anxiety. As a man, it's easy to fall into the trap that being strong means to not feel, to not be emotional and to just keep your head down and ignore any bad thoughts you are having. But to be strong, we have to be vulnerable, and that is not easy. Admitting to yourself that you are not okay is a hard and scary thing to do, but it isn't anywhere near as scary of the thought of a life unfulfilled.

For many periods I have been caught up in trying to manufacture my days perfectly in pursuit of happiness, and have been caught in despair when it doesn't reach my expectations. I've realised that it's the pleasure in that pursuit, that can bring the best out of life. Being able to feel those hundreds of small moments of joy that can be there throughout any day, no matter what you're feeling, is a blessing. To realise and appreciate what is actually going on around you, and not be caught in the narratives of the mind, is a blessing.

To anyone out there who feels sad, who feels anxious, who feels scared, who feels angry, that's okay. It is part of the human experience. We are not alone, talking to friends, family, loved ones and mental health professionals has helped me more than I will probably ever know.

So this November I will be growing a horrendous slug just above my lip, and will be trying to raise money to support a charity that supports the millions of people around the world who suffer.

To anyone who reads this, I am here for you and I care for you and your wellbeing. Let's talk, it's the only way to start.
