Caspais started with a few dads meeting for coffee after school drop-off in Cascais, Portugal. That was the excuse. What grew around it was the real thing.

Today, Caspais is a community of over 250 dads from all over the world who’ve somehow found themselves raising families by the Atlantic. We still drink a lot of coffee, take the piss out of each other, and exchange questionable parenting advice, but somewhere along the way it became much more than that. It became cold plunges, lunches, nights out, recommendations, new friendships, and the kind of support men don’t always find easily as adults. It became guys checking in on each other, helping families through hard moments, and showing up when someone needs a hand.

That’s why Movember fits. Men’s mental health isn’t an abstract cause for us. Neither is prostate cancer, testicular cancer, or the simple idea that men should be better at looking out for one another. Last year, we got started. This year, we want to go much bigger.

We’ve already raised money through our first shirt drop before Movember has even properly begun, and now we’re asking the whole group to get involved. Grow a mo. Raise some money. Start a conversation. Check in on a mate. Look ridiculous for a month if that’s what it takes.
Some of us will grow respectable moustaches. Some of us will discover that genetics had other plans. At least one of us is apparently preparing a mullet as well, which feels less like fundraising and more like a cry for help.

There are no professional fundraisers here. Just a lot of dads trying to be good men, raise good humans, and do a little good while we’re at it.
