MOvember is important for several reasons:

1. Raising awareness: MOvember is a global movement that aims to raise awareness about men's health issues, particularly prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. By growing mustaches during November, participants spark conversations and draw attention to these important health concerns.

2. Promoting early detection: MOvember encourages men to take charge of their health and get regular check-ups. Early detection is crucial for successful treatment of diseases like prostate and testicular cancer. By participating in MOvember, men are reminded to prioritize their health and seek medical advice when needed.

3. Breaking stigmas: Men's health issues, especially mental health, often carry stigmas that prevent open discussions and seeking help. MOvember helps break down these barriers by encouraging conversations and creating a supportive environment where men can openly discuss their health concerns without judgment.

4. Fundraising for research and support programs: MOvember is also a fundraising campaign that supports various research initiatives and programs focused on men's health. The funds raised during MOvember are used to develop new treatments, support patients, and promote mental health programs.

5. Community building: MOvember brings people together, creating a sense of community and solidarity. Participants, known as "Mo Bros" and "Mo Sistas," support each other, share their experiences, and collectively work towards improving men's health. This sense of unity helps individuals feel supported and motivated to make positive changes in their lives.

Overall, MOvember plays a crucial role in raising awareness, promoting early detection, breaking stigmas, fundraising, and building a supportive community around men's health issues.

El Jadida - Mazagão

Portuguese City of Mazagan (El Jadida)
The Portuguese fortification of Mazagan, now part of the city of El Jadida, 90-km southwest of Casablanca, was built as a fortified colony on the Atlantic coast in the early 16th century. It was taken over by the Moroccans in 1769. The Portuguese City of Mazagan - one of the early settlements of the Portuguese explorers in West Africa on the route to India - is an outstanding example of the interchange of influences between European and Moroccan cultures, well reflected in architecture, technology, and town planning.

Weekend in Casablanca: L'Eglise du Sacré Coeur

Dating from 1930, this blindingly white, Roman Catholic church sits on the edge of Parc de la Ligue Arabe. An extraordinary architectural mix of art deco, Moorish and neo-Gothic styles, it has twin towers that resemble minarets, external buttresses and decorative aperture-style windows. The church was deconsecrated in 1956 and has undergone a lengthy restoration.

Weekend in Casablanca: Hassan II Mosque

This opulent mosque, built at enormous expense, is set on an outcrop jutting over the ocean with a 210m-tall minaret that's a city landmark. It's a showcase of the finest Moroccan artisanship: hand-carved stone and wood, intricate marble flooring and inlay, gilded cedar ceilings and exquisite azulejo (geometric mosaic tilework) abound.
